For millennia, philosophers and sophists (posers) have discussed the nature and importance of morality; it’s function, it’s objective principles and whether or not it has any relevance or objective realness. Which is only a testament to the density of amoral assholes on the Earth. Because there is nothing to talk about when it comes to the perennial moral philosophy besides what is said in the few short paragraphs below.
Human morality is simple. We can yap all day about moral relativism but its useless unless you know what you’re talking about. Human morality is not relative. It is concrete and obvious. Morality as a universal concept (Including all those things that are beyond the human sphere) is of course relative. What is moral to a lion, a tiger or a Komodo dragon is much different than what is moral to us. We all have our “Book of the Law” for the species. That is not the same as arguing that morality within the human sphere is relative. That is just plain psychopathic. So, we must dispose of this human-centric or sociological definition of moral relativism and transcend the conversation to the more abstract and transcendent definition, or we will find ourselves in and out of complex humanitarian tragedies like genocides forever!!!
Knowing that there is a set of rules for any given species that all members of the species are expected to abide by should tell you everything you need to know about what morality is, intrinsically. It is the Dao of the Species, the code of conduct within the given animal, which is verified by the agreed upon dos and donts of intention, action and communication. It’s the epitome of understanding how one “steps out of pocket” or “fucks around and finds out.” It’s biological, programmed into the very nature of our being.
The human rules are as follows:
No Lying
No Cheating
No Stealing
No Killing (or any other form of violence)
No Trespassing
How do we know that these are the human being’s fundamental agreements? Because no one likes when those things are done to them, and anyone who engages in those offenses tries their best to hide it from the rest of the human world.
When we are angered or upset by these actions, we’re having a natural reaction. It’s how we’re built. It’s a visceral, primal and reaches far back into the evolutionary memory. We all know a monkey that would beat our ass if we stole his lunch. We don’t need to be taught that it’s bad. We just know. In other words, yes, we all have a moral compass we are born with. Whether we use it nefariously to better identify and conceal our wicked motivations, or we actually follow true North and honor our innate agreement with one another… well, that’s a whole other essay for another time.
Morale philosophy is not rocket science. We all know what is right and wrong. Lot’s of so called intellectuals like to obfuscate the topic with useless ponderings and meanderings conjured up in sophisticated syntax . But I suspect those people are the ones that would prefer ambiguity so they can dishonestly rationalize or obscure their own wickedness.
Households, communities, societies and civilizations that honor these five principles thrive and prosper and the people are happy and productive. Which is another proof that there is an objective morality. The fruits of the labors are evident. Communities where people don’t trust each other, degrade and decay. It goes both ways and it works every time. We have an inherent human moral philosophy. When we break it’s rules, everything else breaks along with it: Trust, households, hearts, communities and sanities are just some of the collateral damages accrued when we violate the code.
The issue with morality isn’t an intellectual one, it is an problem of application. Most people don’t seem to have the conviction or desire to behave themselves. Even worse, that dilemma seems to become more of a problem with each passing day of our modern ( or post-modern← ;) ) society. Dare I say, it is Biblical in its proportions and implications!

Speaking of morality… this will affirm all we need to know about it. Sacred Trust Theory does not spell out every moral rule but it does provide criteria for determining what is moral as a situation arises. Once you understand this, there is not much more to debate.
