[A Poem]

Exploding red confetti

gushing rivers of blood

biting through your flesh, because

this is love

Squeeze your face, “punch me”

wake me up,

or don’t, it doesn’t matter

I guess I’d rather not

---

You wear a fuzzy winter hat with ears

I wear a regular one that feels more manly

Yours is meant to be cute

mine keeps my head warm and makes me feel closer to you

---

you blink a lot when your nervous

I don’t mind, its endearing

I just wish I could get to the part of you

that fires those synapses

---

A hug feels like a formality

these days.

I miss when they cured things

and fed like food

---

My flesh and bones feel foreign

like I fell into them, some time back

between now and when I knew you

I miss you, and hope you’re alright,

---

be safe please.

---

I try to get in contact

with that part of me

that let go with you

I never hear anything back

like the aliens
