The days of reckless abandon are over.
I always look over my shoulder.
I lock all my doors
I check for ID
the treacherous stabs from the past remind me.
You remember the days?
You'd get lost in a face?
In deep conversation
In deep consummation.
I miss being human
around other humans
I miss letting go
with no care of what's looming
But these days…
But these days,
unlike any other,
Yet still in most ways
like those days,
the same in so many old ways
Brutus, Delilah, Bathsheba, & Judas
Nothing new under the Sun for the foolish.
Just like always the businessmen all try to sell
bridges to Brooklyn that lead straight to hell.
The priest from the Holy Lands
all do the same
with a bridge to Jerusalem
crafted by Cain.
It carries a big wooden horse made of hate
that comes as a gift
a gift
seemingly safe.
That beautiful form with its blue painted eyes
hides the plot made of knives in a crafty disguise
Knives that they'll bury
so deep
so deep.
Like whatever it was, was
so deep
so deep.
They'll bury those knives like an ancestral curse
and beat on your flesh like it comes from some hurt.
They'll bury those knives-lives-treacheries-lies.
They'll bury them soon as the fool shifts their eyes.
And they’ll hiss and they’ll laugh and they’ll scream out,
they’ll hiss and they’ll laugh and they’ll scream out
“Surprise!”
